Leeds City College Academy Team In association with Farsley AFC
The College Football Academy runs in partnership with Farsley Afc and over the four years they have worked together the programme has produced a number of players who have made the step up to the reserves and first team at the club.
The Academy players have the opportunity to train on a full time basis with me and the other coaches, combining this with their educational studies at Leeds City College. This provides them with a great opportunity to develop as footballers as well as gaining vital academic qualifications.
We run four under 19 teams within the Academy, these are as follows:
1st team who play in the English College Premier League
Development team who play in the British Colleges League
3rd & 4th teams who also play in the British Colleges League
Players in the first team have the chance to gain England international honours with the English Colleges team.
My role as the Head of football is to oversee the coaching and development of all the players within the Academy whilst managing the 1st team in the premier league along with Anthony Gallagher (sports Academy manager). Other coaches who work within the Academy are Ian Greenwood, Tom Jackson and Paul Cliffe. Ian and Tom currently work at the Huddersfield Town centre of excellence whilst Paul coaches the under 17 and reserves at Farsley.
Our aim over the coming years is to further develop and expand the Football Academy. With the Colleges status as the second biggest in the country combined with the link with Farsley AFC, we believe we can offer talented footballers who have not been taken on by a professional club the chance to continue their football development in a professional environment.
A number of our players have gone on to play for Farsley AFC at both Reserve and Senior levels. These players include:
