Celts launch fighting fund
(July 03, 2009)
Farsley Celtic have today confirmed the launch of their “101, Still Going Strong” appeal to raise funds for the appeal against the Football Conference’s decision to prohibit them from taking part in the Blue Square North.
The launch coincides with the Farsley Community Festival, which will take place at Hainsworth Field, Farsley on Saturday between 1pm and 5pm which is being organised by the Farsley Youth Development Project.
Official club spokesman, Philip Morris confirms:
“ We are launching a fighting fund to raise money to cover the cost of specialist sports lawyers to appeal the decision of the Football Conference. The club has been in existence for 101 years and is really on the brink, so the message of the fund is one of determination . 101 Still Going Strong sends the message that we might be down at the moment, but we are not out.
I would like to thank the organisers of the Farsley Community Festival for allowing us to promote our message – we shall be having a balloon race with the winner of whichever of the 101 balloons that travels the furthest winning a pair of season tickets for next season. We shall be selling badges and other promotional items and hope that the people of the village get behind us, dip into their pockets in a small way and raise some money to allow the club to maintain their Conference North status.
