CELTS 0 - 1 GLOUCESTER CITY
(February 06, 2010)Ben Hunt’s 11th minute strike was the only goal of the game, five minutes after Farsley skipper Dominic Krief had seen a penalty saved.
Midfielder Dave Syers was brought down by Mark Richards and referee Stockbridge pointed to the spot.
But, Krief saw his effort palmed away by Mike Green.
At the other end, Hunt waltzed down the left wing and was able to squeeze the ball past Josh Bell from a tight angle for the only goal of the game.
Gloucester’s game-plan was now to see out the game and they went onto do it successfully. ?xml:namespace>
Five minutes before half-time, Krief saw a goal-bound shot cleared off-the-line by City right-back Neil Mustoe.
Farsley started the second-half strongly and Matty Young’s audacious volley was tipped over the crossbar by Green.
From the resulting corner, Mark Jackson fired over from close range.
As the clock ticked, Farsley still struggled to break the visitors down, with 13 minutes remaining, leading scorer Lee Ellington headed over from Josh Radcliffe’s cross.
Injury-time approached and a few delays took the sting out of Farsley’s attack plan, meaning Gloucester could safely see out the final minutes.
The Celts now look bounce back on Monday night when they travel to Hyde United.
