Life goes on at Farsley Celtic after the demise of the first team and on Sunday afternoon, FCFC Ladies team stretched their winning run to 13 league games. Leading scorer Kerry McLoughlin smashed six; Hayley Hare grabbed four, while there were doubles from Abi Morgan and Stephanie Farley, along with a solitary goal from Karishma Mehta. Farsley blew their opponents away with ease and took the lead as early as the eighth minute. Mehta crossed from the right and McLoughlin turned and fired the ball into the bottom corner. From the opening goal, the Celts were never troubled and the game panned out into an endless onslaught on the Leeds’ goal. Mehta tapped home for 2-0, following a scramble and then as the half-hour mark approached, McLoughlin increased the lead to three. Soon after, Morgan continued her knack of scoring outrageous goals. This week, a cross from 30-yards found its way into the bottom corner. Morgan recorded her second, moments later when she made a fine run before slotting past the Leeds’ keeper. Hare converted the Celts’ sixth goal as the half closed by volleying the ball home from 12 yards. The day had got even worse for Leeds by the hour mark as the Celts had scored twice more. McLoughlin notched her first hat-trick with a tap-in and then substitute Farley slotted the ball into an empty net for 8-0. McLoughlin hit three more in quick succession to take the score to 11-0 and then Hare did exactly the same with three in 12 minutes – with two being worthy contenders for goal of the season. On 77 minutes, the striker rifled an effort into the roof of the net from 30 yards. Eight minutes later, Hare sealed her treble with a low drive from the edge of the area, but she wasn’t finished. In the last minute of normal time, Hare earned applause from everyone watching by volleying the ball over the Leeds’ keeper from the halfway line. The 15th and final goal of the day came in the first minute of injury-time when Farley’s weak shot crossed the goal-line. The Celts are 15 points clear at the top of the West Riding County Women’s League Second Division with nine games remaining – due to Uppermill’s third consecutive defeat. Farsley travel to Huddersfield Town Reserves next week.
