PARS: WE DIDN'T PLAY WELL ENOUGH
(January 22, 2012)
Neil Parsley admitted after yesterday's game against Warrington Town that his side had no-one but themselves to blame for the 1-0 defeat.
Matty Cross scored a 10th minute goal direct from a corner which was helped in by the wind but Pars was disappointed to gift the visitors an early lead which they were able to defend successfully for the remainder of the game.
Neil told farsleyafc.co.uk: "I didn't think we played well enough to come away with a win to be honest with you. We can go on about the conditions we can go on about formations but at the end of the day Warrington scored and had something to hang onto. End of story.
"I think we fell below the standards we've set ourselves but we'll move on.
"It was a poor goal to concede without a shadow of a doubt. It's the second goal in three games that we've conceded directly from a corner so it was very disappointing."
Warrington's goalkeeper, Chris Oldfield, sustained an injury 24 minutes into the game following a collision with Ben Jones, but limped on for the rest of the game with the visitors without a substitute goalkeeper.
It was clear that the stopper was not as mobile as previously but Farsley failed to take advantage of Town's weak point and only managed to trouble him a couple of times in the second half.
Pars agreed that AFC didn't make use of Warrington's achillies heel but is keen for his side to bounce back for the tricky tie at Lancaster City's Giant Axe next Saturday.
"We didn't challenge their keeper enough. The one chance we did have in the second half fell to Tom Jackson on the far post from a corner. In open play though we haven't tested the keeper.
"It's the name of the game, how you react. We've got a week to work on what went wrong and we've got a difficult game against Lancaster up next.
"We have to react because Lancaster are a decent side and hopefully we'll be able to address what we've undone this afternoon."
